Leveraging Social Media for Maximum Career Impact (S2 – Ep3/20)


This week we are talking about levering social media for maximum career impact. Social media has always been a point of contention in the career world. On the one hand you have sites that are central to your career and are built to help you advance and on the other hand you have sites that promote you making a fool of yourself or making poor decisions.
 
In this episode I get deep about social media and my thoughts on the future. Along with my opinion, I also outline 3 common types of LinkedIn profiles for experienced professionals:
 
1. The expert.
2. The manager.
3. The thought leader.
 
These three profile types aren’t the only types you will see, but they are the most common. The key to creating a great LinkedIn profile is to understand where you are headed in your career and write a profile that supports that path, along with posting content that supports where you are headed.
 
Your LinkedIn profile is a marketing tool. Within 10-15 seconds of looking at your profile, I should be able to figure out what you do and where you want to go.
