Overview
An Interview With Ben Chi, Manager of Merchandising, Brand, and Community at the Los Angeles Football Club, on following his passion into a creative career.
Show Notes
In an age where a college degree is becoming less of a predictor of success, Ben Chi is an example of someone who followed their "north star," as he puts it, to land a position with the LA Football Club.
This is a candid, honest, and vulnerable interview that will make you want to re-think your career path in favor of following your passion.
What stands out about Ben is that he is straightforward about the hard decisions he had to make, the crappy jobs he took on the journey, and the multitude of risks that got him to this place.
As a professional who is really at the beginning of and prime of his career, Ben's journey will be one to watch.
About Ben Chi:
A soccer player and fan at heart, Ben found a home with the LA Football Club where he is able to combine his passion for soccer, creativity, fashion, and community as the Manager of Merchandising, Brand, and Community.
Ben is committed to honoring the fandom and experience of the LAFC fans and supporters through the fashion and merch options available. Though missing the fans during COVID, Ben has been able to develop an online community to keep everyone connected.
With a history of marketing, fashion, social media, and advertising, Ben got his start in a marketing firm for small businesses pitching online ads before online ads were popular. His extensive knowledge and hustler attitude helped him make strategic, and at times risky, career moves that have paid off.
