I'm excited to share my tips and advice for people graduating this year. For anyone new here, I spent 8 years working in career development at universities before starting my own business. I have worked with every major and every type of degree. From freshmen who have no idea what they want to major in to seniors who have no idea what job they want to grad students, alumni, and more.
I'm going to share with you, not only the most common advice I gave to those graduating but also what I wish someone would have told me. Here's what this episode covers:
- The myth of the "dream" job.
- Your first job after you graduate won't be forever.
- Graduate school isn't the answer if you can't find a job.
- Value yourself and your experience!
- Use LinkedIn to its fullest!
- A special message to first-generation graduates.
- A special reminder to students whose parents are little too controlling about their career.
